Villum Can Rasmussen

Villum Kann Rasmussen (born January 23, 1909 on Mandø ; † August 24, 1993 in Ordrup , Denmark ) was a company and foundation founder . He was awarded an honorary doctorate from Denmark's Technical University .

Life

Rasmussen was born in 1909 as the son of the local parish pastor on Mandø. From 1927 he studied civil engineering in Sorø and graduated in 1932.

In 1941 he founded his own company, Villum Kann Rasmussen & Co. in Horsens near Ringkøbing . The company Velfac , which was founded in 1952 and specializes in the manufacture of facade windows and doors, and the Velux company, which focuses on the production of skylight windows , have their own production line . The parent company expanded with the acquisition of several window and door manufacturers and today only has a holding function , which is why it now operates under the name VKR Holding . For example, he took over his own company Veltex and the external companies Ribo and Champion.

He registered a total of 55 patents and 9 registered designs .
