Vincent Collet (born June 6, 1963 in Sainte-Adresse , France ) is a retired French basketball player. Following his playing career, Collet became a coach . He currently looks after the French national team .
Career
player
Collet played in the position of point guard for various French clubs . Between 1981 and 1994 he played in the first French league LNB Pro A . He ended his playing career in 1998 with STB Le Havre in the LNB Pro B .
With SCM Le Mans , Collet became French champion in 1982 .
Trainer

From May 2011 Collet was the coach of the French first division club Strasbourg IG . In 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 the team was able to reach the championship finals, where they lost. In 2015 and 2018 he won the French cup competition with the team. In 2016, Collet was in the final of the Eurocup with Strasbourg, but lost to Galatasaray Istanbul . After the end of the 2015/16 season, Collet's contract in Strasbourg was not extended, but his successor Henrik Dettmann was dismissed in October 2016 and Collet took over the post again. Due to the bad sporting situation, there was a separation between Collet and Strasbourg at the end of January 2020, in the French league the team was twelfth at that time.
National team
Collet has been the coach of the French national team since May 4th, 2009 . He initially received a four-year contract. In the following years the national team was very successful. If you already achieved fifth place at the European Championships in 2009 , you could secure a medal each at the following three European Championships. The highlight was winning the 2013 European Championship in Serbia . He also led France to the bronze medal at the 2014 and 2019 World Championships .
