Vinoj Suranjaya De Silva Muthumuni (born January 9, 1995 in Balapitiya ) is a Sri Lankan athlete who specializes in sprinting .

Athletic career

Vinoj De Silva gained his first international experience in 2014 at the Junior Asian Championships in Taipei , where he finished fourth in the Sri Lankan 4 x 100 meter relay in 40.37 seconds. In 2015 he took part in the Asian Championships in Wuhan over 200 meters and was eliminated there with 21.57 s in the semifinals. He also finished fourth with the relay in 39.38 s. He then won the bronze medal with the relay at the Military World Games in Mungyeong, South Korea . In 2016 he won the gold medals over 200 meters and with the relay at the South Asian Games in Guwahati . In 2017 he again took part in the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar and was eliminated in the semi-finals over 100 and 200 meters and again finished fourth in the relay.

In 2018 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time and finished sixth with the Sri Lankan relay with a new national record of 39.08 s. The following year he again took part in the South Asian Games in Kathmandu , where he won the silver medal over 200 meters behind Pakistani Uzair Rehman in 21.19 s and was sixth over 100 meters in 10.79 s. He also won the season with a new player record of 39.14 s.

In 2016 and 2019 De Silva became the Sri Lankan champion in the 200-meter run .
