The VinylDisc is a hybrid double-sided sound carrier . It consists of a conventional digital CD or DVD with a layer of polyvinyl chloride as analog vinyl record that due to reduced the CD / DVD size only up to 3.5 minutes analog sound at a speed of 33⅓  min -1 can play. VinylDisc was developed by the German company Optimal Media Production and can be played on conventional devices. Automatic record players do not know the size of the CD / DVD.

Examples of singles that have already been released in this hybrid format are Paramores Misery Business , The Mars Voltas cover version of Pink Floyd's Candy and a Currant Bun, and Fightstars Deathcar , which supposedly had a limited edition of 3,000 copies. To promote this new format when it was launched in September 2007, Popkomm visitors received a vinyl disc with music by Jazzanova .
