Virginia Ruzici (born January 31, 1955 in Câmpia Turzii ) is a former Romanian tennis player .

Career

Ruzici, who became a professional player in 1975, won nine singles and 12 doubles titles in her career.

The highlight of her career was the 1978 French Open , where she won the title in both singles and doubles ; also she was there in the mixed final. In the individual she defeated last year's winner Mima Jaušovec 6: 2 and 6: 2, with whom she secured the double title of the Grand Slam tournament with a three-set victory over Lesley Bowrey and Gail Lovera .

In 1980 Ruzici reached the final of the French Open for the second time , in which she lost to Chris Evert-Lloyd .

From 1973 to 1983 she played for the Romanian Fed Cup team , of her 38 Fed Cup games she was able to make 25 victorious.
