Vital dos Santos (born December 18, 1965 ) is a politician from East Timor . He is a member of the Partido Democrático (PD) and comes from the western part of the country .

After the first round of the presidential elections in East Timor in 2007 , Santos represented the unsuccessful candidates Fernando de Araújo , Lúcia Lobato and Francisco Xavier do Amaral as a lawyer in the appeal against the result at the Tribunal de Recurso de Timor-Leste . The objection failed.

From 2007 to 2012 Santos was a member of the National Parliament of East Timor and was Vice-President of the Commission for Constitutional Affairs, Justice, Public Administration, Local Jurisprudence and Government Legislation (Commission A). When the PD parliamentary group leader Adriano do Nascimento, who also came from the west, accused the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Mariano Sabino Lopes (also PD) that all PD positions in the government were only filled with people from the eastern part of the country and therefore for Also called for a post, Nascimento received support from Santos and the MP Lucas da Costa . They threatened to vote against the formation of the ruling coalition Aliança da Maioria Parlamentar (AMP) in parliament .

In 2008 Santos got into a scuffle in parliament when the FRETILIN MP Osório Costa attacked him.

Santos left Parliament early in February 2011. In the 2012 parliamentary elections , Santos was no longer on the PD's electoral list. He is now working as a lawyer again.
