Vladimir Veličković (born August 11, 1935 in Belgrade , Kingdom of Yugoslavia , † August 29, 2019 ) was a Yugoslav - Serbian - French architect and painter .

Life

Vladimir Veličković was born in Belgrade in the former Yugoslavia, now the Republic of Serbia, in 1935. He studied architecture at the University of Belgrade . After graduating, he became interested in painting. From 1963 to 1966 Veličković worked as an assistant in Krsto Hegedušić's studio in Zagreb .

In 1966 Vladimir Veličković moved to Paris , where he lived and worked until his death in August 2019. From 1983 to 2000 Veličković taught as a professor at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris .

Since 1970 he has mainly represented movements of the male body, running, jumping and falling. His work is assigned to narrative figuration .

Vladimir Veličković was a signatory of the declaration published in 2017 on the common language of Croatians , Serbs , Bosniaks and Montenegrins .

Exhibitions

In 1972 Veličković represented Yugoslavia at the Venice Biennale . In 1977 he was invited to take part in documenta 6 in Kassel .
