The Mindener Tageblatt (MT) is an independent, non-partisan, locally oriented daily newspaper . It appears in the East Westphalian city of Minden . The distribution area is in Altkreis Minden with the towns of Petershagen and Porta Westfalica and the municipality of Hille . With its own local editorial office, the Mindener Tageblatt is the only daily newspaper in Minden and appears here almost without competition. The sold circulation is 27,885 copies, a decrease of 26.3 percent since 1998.
Since 2000 , the Mindener Tageblatt has been delivering the news for the neighboring local newspaper Vlothoer Anzeiger . This newspaper, which previously belonged to Dirk Ippen's newspaper group, has been published every Saturday by MT-Verlag JCC Bruns since July 2012 and is distributed free of charge to all households in Vlotho and the neighboring Kalletal. The company's own editorial team in Vlotho also took care of the daily updated website. From January 2004 to June 2012 the Vlothoer Anzeiger appeared as a daily newspaper, previously twice a week. After that, the Vlothoer Anzeiger appeared again as a weekly newspaper until it was finally discontinued on June 28, 2014.

The Mindener Tageblatt was founded on July 5, 1856 by Johann Christian Conrad Bruns (May 10, 1800– September 8, 1877), who came from Hanover and in 1833 had bought the book and lithographic printing company founded by Rudolf Eduard Bösendahl in Minden. From this date it appeared twice a week under the name Minden-Lübbecker Kreisblatt in the two old districts of Lübbecke and Minden , as well as in the Herford area and in Schaumburg-Lippe . At that time, the newspaper had a circulation of 2,200 copies and, at low prices, was mainly aimed at lower social classes. The publisher also successfully published calendars, such as the "German Army Calendar" since 1879 and the "Illustrated German Citizens and Farmers Calendar for Town and Country" since 1884, which together with calendars from other publishers in Minden make Minden the largest calendar city in 1938 and 1939 at the latest did.
The MT has had its current name since 1919. In 1930 the childless Max Bruns brought his nephew Hansheinrich Thomas (1904–1977) into the editorial office, who soon became editor-in-chief and made the development and expansion of the publishing house and his newspaper his life's work. In 1941 the messenger was taken over on the Weser . The Bruns family managed to improve the sheet and anchor it in the region through continuous printing changes. This became particularly difficult after the Second World War , as the British used the print shop for their own purposes and only released it completely empty again in 1947, whereupon the first post-war edition appeared on December 1, 1949. The late re-publication of the paper, which had to be discontinued in 1943 under pressure from the National Socialists, brought a considerable competitive disadvantage, as the newspapers of the so-called licensed press appeared again in 1946. But it was able to re-establish itself and began with color printing in 1967 . In 1972 a new printing house was built on Trippeldamm due to lack of space. The daily newspaper Die Harke , based in Nienburg , has also been printed here since July 1, 2013 .
In 2004, the publishing house of the Mindener Tageblatt took over the Vlothoer Anzeiger , which had previously appeared twice a week and which then appeared daily. In 2012, the Mindener Tageblatt discontinued this commitment after 1600 titles were sold daily in the end. The direct competition, the Westfalen Blatt for Vlotho , sold its newspaper in the region with a monthly subscription of 11.30 euros.
After the direct competitor in the Minden-Lübbecke district ceased its publication, the Mindener Tageblatt has a monopoly for large areas of the district.
Today the newspaper maintains a full editorial staff with a staff of 35 (with around 130 employees in total) , which produces around 9,000 pages per year including the national portions. In total, the annual production reaches 13,000 pages (i.e. about 4000 pages of advertising) with about 300 issues.

The Minden Tageblatt , like most German newspapers in recent years to rest lost. The number of copies sold has fallen by an average of 2.1% per year over the past 10 years. Last year it decreased by 2.3%. It is currently 27,885 copies. The share of subscriptions in the circulation sold is 90.1 percent.

The newspaper will continue to be printed in Berlin format . The title page containing the Neuform only a hot topic from the national and from the local Them range, complemented on the upper part by a multi-column solo photo . Page 2 becomes a dialogue page with space for comments , letters to the editor , one or more short interviews, the reactions of readers from social networks , a photo of the day or a caricature, the number of the day, and historical newspaper pages. Page 3 will be a monothematic page.

Benjamin Piel has been the editor-in-chief since June 1, 2018 . He is the successor to Christoph Pepper , who previously held this post for 27 years.
In 2013, the long-time head of the local editorial team, Hans-Jürgen Amtage, left the editorial team. The local editorial team has been headed by Hartmut Nolte and Monika Jäger since July 1, 2013.
