The Vogelherd is an elevation of the Solling and a former nature reserve named after it in the Lower Saxon town of Holzminden and in the community-free area of Merxhausen in the Holzminden district .
Nature reserve
The former nature reserve with the registration number NSG HA 116 is 61 hectares in size. It is part of the FFH area “Moore and Forests in Hochsolling, Hellental” and the EU bird sanctuary “Solling”. The 10.8 hectare natural forest reserve of the same name, designated in 1972, is part of the former nature reserve. This is left to its natural development. The former “ Hellental ” nature reserve connects to the south . The area was under nature protection since December 31, 1986. On June 9, 2019, the newly designated " Moore and Forests in Hochsolling, Hellental " nature reserve opened up. The responsible lower nature conservation authority was the district of Holzminden.
The former nature reserve is located southeast of Holzminden between Hellental and Silberborn on the southeast slope of the Vogelherds within the Solling-Vogler Nature Park . It is the sooner the remaining stocks Solling determining Luzulo-beech forest , surrounded by vast coniferous afforestation coined.
