Location of Hellental in Lower Saxony

Hellental is a district of Heinade , a municipality in the integrated municipality of Eschershausen-Stadtoldendorf in the Holzminden district in Lower Saxony .

geography

The village is on a slope in the valley of the light . There is no thoroughfare through the village .

history

Forest glassworks already existed in this valley in the High Middle Ages. There were several temporary huts that did not lead to permanent settlement due to the desert period that followed.

In the early modern period, the Waldglashütte Am Lummenborn is documented for the years 1624/25. The associated Lummenborn spring and the location of the hut there, today used as a pasture , have been preserved. From another hut, which is dated to the years after 1617, the remains of the furnace are visible as a bump in the same valley. In addition, a stamp was found there for the production of dolls , which is exhibited in the local museum. The location of these hut locations resulted from the available raw material deposits and the location on Alte Einbecker Straße as a trading route to the Tiedexer Tor of the local market town.

The northern edge of the Solling was part of the Principality of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel when August Wilhelm allowed a glassmaker to build this glassworks in the valley of the Helle in 1716 . This Steinbeker glassworks was in operation from 1717 to 1744. It was founded by a glassmaker from the Gundlach family , who was appointed bailiff in the Lichtenberg district in 1735 by Ferdinand Albrecht II . As a result, family members and staff also settled here. The village of Hellental then developed from this. It was bought by Charles I in 1743 and relocated to Schorborn, so that the local glassworks was given up because of the rival and successor glass factory Schorborn .

In the years of the Kingdom of Westphalia , the village initially belonged to the canton of Stadtoldendorf , then to the canton of Dassel .

On January 1, 1973 Hellental was incorporated into the Heinade community.
