Ferdinand Albrecht II (Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel)
Ferdinand Albrecht II of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel (born May 29, 1680 in Bevern ; † September 13, 1735 in Salzdahlum ) was Prince of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel-Bevern , but shortly before his death he inherited the entire Principality of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel and gave Bevern for this on to his brother Ernst Ferdinand . Like all Guelphs, he held the title of Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg .
Life
Ferdinand Albrecht II was born as the fourth son of Ferdinand Albrecht I of Braunschweig-Bevern and Christine of Hessen-Eschwege .
He followed his father in Bevern in 1687 and fought with the imperial army in Swabia and Bavaria after the War of the Spanish Succession broke out . In 1704 he attended the battle of the Schellenberg as an imperial wing adjutant , was then imperial adjutant general and as such seriously wounded in front of Landau , in 1707 major general and in 1711 field marshal lieutenant.
Under Prince Eugene , he fought against the Turks in the Venetian-Austrian Turkish War , received the governorship of the Komorn Fortress in 1715 and distinguished himself particularly at Peterwardein , at the siege of Temesvár and the fortress of Belgrade .
Emperor Charles VI. transferred to him in September 1722 the dragoon regiment that Ernst Leopold von Holstein-Norburg (1685-1722) had held in the Netherlands.
Imperial Field Marshal from 1723 , he became Reich General Feldzeugmeister in 1727 and Reich General Field Marshal in 1733. In the following year he brought together the imperial war peoples near Pilsen , went with them to the Rhine and was in command of the army until Eugen's arrival.
The death of his cousin - Prince Ludwig Rudolf von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel - on March 1, 1735 called him to the orphaned prince's seat. Ferdinand Albrecht died a few months after taking over the business of government, on September 13, 1735.
