Ferdinand Albrecht I of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel-Bevern (born May 22, 1636 in Braunschweig , † April 23, 1687 in Bevern ) was Duke of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel-Bevern from the House of the Welfs .

Life

Duke Ferdinand Albrecht I was the fourth son of Duke August the Younger , Prince of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel and came from his third marriage to Sophie Elisabeth zu Mecklenburg (1613–1676). At a young age he was brought up by Justus Georg Schottelius and the prominent poet Sigmund von Birken .

After violent inheritance disputes, he was awarded Bevern Castle near Holzminden , an annual appanage and basic rights as a residence in 1667 , in return he waived all claims to the government of the Principality of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel .

On January 25, 1665 he was accepted as a fellow in the Royal Society .

In 1673 Duke Ferdinand Albrecht was accepted into the Fruit Bringing Society by Duke August von Sachsen-Weißenfels . Duke Ferdinand Albrecht was given the miraculous company name and the motto in fruiting . The Alexandrian laurel herb was given to him as an emblem . Duke Ferdinand Albrecht's entry in the Koethen company register is no. 842. According to the current state of research, there is no rhyme law of him.

At the age of 31 Ferdinand Albrecht I married the Princess Christine of Hessen-Eschwege (1648–1702) on November 26, 1667 . He had nine children with her:
