The canton Dassel existed from 1807 to 1813 in the Einbeck district ( department of the Leine , Kingdom of Westphalia ) and was formed by the royal decree of December 24, 1807. Dassel was affected by restructuring to finally determine the state of the communities in the department of the Leine on June 16, 1809. After this decree, the Vorwerk Hunnesrück and the Erichsburg were removed from the canton, and the municipality of Eilensen was dissolved. The dissolved municipality replaced the two new villages Merxhausen and Hellental. To maintain the number of municipalities, Mackensen lost its independence and formed a municipality with the new town of Denkiehausen and Juliusburg. Hilwartshausen, which remained after Eilensen was dissolved, formed a new municipality with Relliehausen in place of Mackensen. The municipalities of Sievershausen and Abbecke / Friedrichshausen were merged, so that the following restructuring resulted.
