The Helle is a southwest or right tributary of the Spüligbach in the Lower Saxony district of Holzminden in Germany .

course

The light rises in the Solling north of the Great Pale , in the Mecklenbruch high moor . Initially, the north-east flowing stream runs through the Hellentaler Grund and finally reaches two districts of Heinade : First it passes Hellental , then it flows into the Ilme tributary Spüligbach in Merxhausen .

geology

In some places the water of the light disappears in a ponor (swallow hole) to reappear in another place. The reason for this is the strong tectonic stress on the shell limestone, which has sunk into this trench in the Solling, and which is therefore strongly fissured.

natural reserve

On the bank area of the Helle, which is partly equipped with field trees and forest ledges , there are wet meadows on a slight slope. The Bachtal is designated as a nature reserve Hellental in the area of the Hellentaler Grund in order to preserve the landscape ; it also overlaps with an FFH area .

The blue-winged demoiselle and the two-striped spring damsel have been detected here, although the stream can fall dry in summer.

History and reception

Boundary stone in the light

A Hellweg and the Alte Einbecker Heerstraße once led through the Bachtal , which connected Holzminden with the Tiedexer Tor . Furthermore, the border between the Duchy of Brunswick and the Kingdom of Hanover ran through the valley , marked by stones.

Hermann Löns wrote a poem about the brook valley.
