The Vogelsbach is a nearly one kilometer long stream in the Großaltdorf district of the small town of Vellberg in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in north-eastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the Aalenbach from the left below Kleinaltdorf .

geography

course

The Vogelsbach , which has only inconsistent water over its entire length, arises south of Kleinaltdorf in the Streich hillside forest at around 435  m above sea level. NHN . It runs for the first 200 meters to the north-northwest in a not very pronounced blade and then changes to the open corridor. He runs through it between the Vogelsbach and then Bräunlesäcker on the right and Streich on the left in a slightly winding course. There it flows in a ditch without trees or bushes on the bank between fields and meadows and accompanied by the Vorderer Streichweg dirt road in a north-westerly direction. A little below the opposite hamlet of Kleinaltdorf and a little above the tributary of the Mühlenbach , which flows into it from the other side, it flows out at about 374  m above sea level. NHN from the left into the Aalenbach .

The Vogelsbach flows after its 0.8 km long path with an average bed gradient of about 76 ‰ about 61 meters below its source in the Streich forest . It has no open tributaries.

Catchment area

The Vogelsbach has a catchment area of just over 0.3 km². From a natural perspective, it is located with the slightly larger upper part in the lower area of the Burgberg Vorhöhen and Speltach Bay of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains , with the lower part near the mouth in the lower area of the Haller level of the Hohenloher and Haller level . The natural area boundary roughly follows the edge of the forest. The with about 365  m above sea level. NHN's highest point is on the south-east corner in Streich on the Binselberg ridge.

The catchment area borders on the catchment areas of the following neighboring waters:

  • In the northeast a nameless brook flows along the K 2665 Frankenhardt - Steinehaig - Kleinaltdorf above to the Aalenbach;
  • in the south-southeast, beyond the Binselberg ridge in the Streich forest area, lies the Brunnenklinge , whose brook drains significantly further down into the Aalenbach via the Echtbach .
  • in the southwest, an unnamed source drainage in the Gewann Käsäcker flows less far down into the Aalenbach.

Except for tiny fringes, the area lies entirely within the Großaltdorf suburb of the small town of Vellberg .

geology

The Binselberg ridge in the south-southeast is a narrow plateau in the reed sandstone ( Stuttgart formation ). Below that, on the larger part of the catchment area, there is Gipskeuper ( Grabfeld Formation ), in which the stream arises and runs until a little after the border with the corridor. Below this, in turn, lies the Lettenkeuper ( Erfurt formation ), with the exception of only the narrow, lowest valley basin of the creek, in which the creek has even cut a little into the Upper Muschelkalk .
