Voice of Indonesia

The Voice of Indonesia (English name: Voice of Indonesia ) is the foreign service of the Indonesian state broadcaster Radio Republic Indonesia . The programs can also be heard within Indonesia; they are aimed at Indonesian citizens and citizens of other countries in the world.

history

After the end of the Japanese occupation of Indonesia and the declaration of independence on August 17, 1945, the country's state radio was founded, which very soon began recording shortwave broadcasts abroad under the name Voice of Indonesia . For this purpose, the old stations of the former Dutch colonial government were taken over at that time. The station was originally called "Voice of Free Indonesia" ( Voice of Free Indonesia ). On September 11, 1945, the state broadcaster Radio Republic Indonesia (RRI) was founded, under whose roof the foreign service has been operated ever since. It bears the name "Voice of Indonesia" (since 1950 Voice of Indonesia ).

The shortwave transmitters of the international service are in Cimanggis not far from the capital Jakarta , where the studios of the voice of Indonesia are also to be found. From September 2012 onwards, a relay station from Germany was also used for a few months .

The programs in German are also available as podcasts on the broadcaster's homepage . In addition, the voice of Indonesia has also been broadcasting live via the Internet since July 2008.
