The high-speed ferry Volcán del Teide was delivered in 2011 from the shipyard Hijos De J, Barreras in Vigo to the shipping company Naviera Armas , Las Palmas.

The Volcán del Teide is one of the largest ferries operated by the Armas shipping company . It operates on the routes between Gran Canaria , Tenerife, Lanzarote and Huelva and with a nominal speed of 26 knots it takes around 28 hours for a crossing. It has 136 cabins (double and quadruple) with a total of 472 berths, and there are another 500 reclining seats.

There are parking spaces for 300 cars on the vehicle decks.
