Volker Giencke

Volker Giencke (born June 27, 1947 in Wolfsberg , Carinthia ) is an Austrian architect .

Life

Volker Giencke studied architecture and philosophy in Graz and Vienna . He worked with Merete Mattern , the landscape architect Raimund Herms and Günther Domenig . In 1981 the atelier "Giencke & Company Architects" was opened in Graz, further offices followed in 1990 in Seville and 2004 in Riga.

Volker Giencke has been teaching since 1992 as a professor of architecture at the University of Innsbruck , Institute for Building Construction and Design. In 2000 he founded the ./studio 3, Institute for Experimental Architecture there.

He was Davenport Professor at the YALE School of Architecture New Haven / USA, at University College London - Bartlett School of Architecture, at Rizvi College Bombay, at L'Ecole Polytechnique Nantes, and at the Universidad de Buenos Aires.

Memberships

Volker Giencke is a member of the Austrian Association of Visual Artists , a member of the Austrian Society for Architecture , a member of the Central Association of Architects in Austria, an honorary member of the Association of German Architects , a member of the Latvian Association of Architects, a founding member of the Bartenbach Light Academy at the University of Innsbruck, a member of the European Academy of Sciences and arts .
