Volker Huwendiek (born January 31, 1943 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German educator and university teacher .

Training and teaching

After the Magisterium -Studies the German and theology and a second degree (teacher) in education and psychology at the Universities of Heidelberg and Tübingen he worked from 1970 as a teacher at Justus-Knecht-Gymnasium Bruchsal , from 1974 as a senior teacher . His subjects were German, Protestant religion and psychology. After 1977 he worked in Bruchsal to a much lesser extent due to further activities until he stopped there in 1999.

In 1977 he became a lecturer at the State Seminar for Didactics and Teacher Training (Gymnasium) in Heidelberg, in 1979 Head of Department and Director of Studies , and in 1987 Professor of Education. In the 1990s and 2000s he held teaching positions for school pedagogy at the Universities of Karlsruhe and Heidelberg . From 2000 to 2008 he was director of the state seminar for didactics and teacher training (grammar school) in Karlsruhe . The “Guide to School Practice: Pedagogy and Psychology for the Teaching Profession” (9th edition, 2017), which he published together with Gislinde Bovet, is considered a standard work in teacher training .

Association work

From 1993 to 2010, Volker Huwendiek was federal chairman of the Federal Working Group of Seminar and Subject Leaders (BAK), which represents the interests of seminar and subject leaders in the second phase of teacher training . Since 2010 he has been honorary chairman of the association. He was co-founder, publisher and editor-in-chief of the quarterly publication "Seminar - Teacher Training and School".
