Volker Kronenberg

Volker Kronenberg (born January 8, 1971 in Bonn , Germany ) is a German political scientist .

Career

Kronenberg studied political science, constitutional law and sociology at the University of Bonn . He completed his studies under Manfred Funke in 1998 as a Magister Artium . In 1999, following a research stay at the Friedrich Meinecke Institute of the Free University of Berlin , he submitted his doctorate to the political scientist Hans-Adolf Jacobsen and the historian Klaus Hildebrand in the field of contemporary history at the same university . In 2000, Kronenberg received the Erich-und-Erna-Kronauer-Stiftung's Historians Prize for his dissertation . In 2004 he completed his habilitation with Christian Hacke in Bonn.

From 1998 to 2000 Kronenberg was a research assistant at the Department of Political Science at the University of Bonn. He then became Academic Councilor at the Institute for Political Science and Sociology at the same university, of which he was Managing Director from 2000 to 2002 and again from 2004 to 2006. Since 2005 Kronenberg curator of the Institute, since 2008 the Office of Academic Director . In 2010 he was awarded the title of honorary professor by the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences . Research priorities

As part of his research work at the University of Bonn, Kronenberg deals in particular with topics relating to the political system, political culture and political history of the Federal Republic of Germany. Further areas of expertise are political biography and party research. He is also regularly consulted as a political expert by the broadcasters Phoenix , WDR and Deutschlandfunk . In regional reporting, for example, he often expresses himself on state and local political issues. In 2011 and 2012, Kronenberg was involved as an expert in the Citizens' Dialogue initiated by Chancellor Angela Merkel .
