Manfred Funke

Manfred Funke (born June 23, 1939 in Recklinghausen ; † September 20, 2010 in Datteln ) was a German political scientist and contemporary historian .

Life

Funke studied history at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen , the University of Cologne and the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. He was born in 1969 with Max Braubach at the Philosophical Faculty of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn with the historical dissertation Sanctions and Cannons. Hitler, Mussolini and the international Abyssinia conflict 1934–36 for Dr. phil. PhD .

He then taught as a scientific assistant , teacher and director of studies in higher education service operates. He completed his habilitation in political science under Karl Dietrich Bracher in 1988 and was an adjunct professor of political science at the University of Bonn from 1993 . He taught and researched at the Department of Political Science for 35 years until he retired in 2004. From 1991 to 1992 he was visiting professor at the University of Leipzig . His academic students included u. a. Kinan Jaeger ; and Volker Kronenberg heard from him.

Funke has made a name for himself in the field of extremism research. He also researched democracy and National Socialism and totalitarianism . Funke was the author of numerous specialist articles and editor of several books. From 1970 on, he was editor-in-chief responsible for the Bonn writings on politics and contemporary history .
