Volker Liepelt

Volker Liepelt (born August 5, 1948 in Itzehoe ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 2000 to 2001 he was State Secretary at the Berlin Senate Department for Economics and Technology and before that he was a long-time member of the Berlin House of Representatives .

Life and work

After attending school (until 1966), Liepelt completed a commercial traineeship , which he completed in 1969 with the examination for business assistant. He then took up a degree in business administration in Berlin . In 1974 he obtained the HWL diploma, in 1975 he became a state-certified business economist . From 1975 to 1981 he worked as a commercial clerk and later as an independent business economist. He then became managing partner of a marketing and advertising agency (until 1998). Liepelt has been working as an independent economic consultant since 2003 .

politics

Liepelt joined the CDU in 1972 and was a member of the Berlin-Tiergarten district council from 1975 to 1981 . In 1981 he became a member of the Berlin House of Representatives, to which he belonged until 1989 and again from 1991 to 2000, and from 1991 as the first parliamentary manager of the CDU parliamentary group.

In 1998 he was elected General Secretary of the Berlin CDU . In 2000 Liepelt was appointed State Secretary to the Senate Department for Economics and Technology under Wolfgang Branoner . There he was responsible for the departments of economic and innovation policy and economic order.

After Eberhard Diepgen was voted out of office by a constructive vote of no confidence and the formation of the first senate under Klaus Wowereit , Liepelt was dismissed from office in 2001.

In 2002 and 2005 Liepelt ran as a direct candidate in the Berlin-Mitte constituency for the German Bundestag , but could not prevail against the SPD candidate Jörg-Otto Spiller .

He is currently a member of the Berlin CDU district association as well as chairman of the Freundeskreis Europa Berlin e.V., which he co-founded. V.
