The early spring timeless is a perennial tuber that reaches heights of 3 to 10 centimeters. The mostly 2, rarely 3 leaves are bare and measure 1 to 13 × 0.4 to 3 centimeters at flowering time, later they reach up to 10 to 30 × 0.7 to 4.5 centimeters. The number of chromosomes is 2n = 18.
