Voslapper Groden-Nord is the name of a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony city of Wilhelmshaven .
The nature reserve Voslapper Groden-Nord with the registration NSG WE 253 was created in 1973/1974 through the dike in the Voslapper Groden . Until 1979, parts of the area were used as a sink area. Not all of the areas originally planned for industrial settlements could be marketed and so a variety of biotopes developed on the unused areas , which offers particularly favorable living conditions for protected bird species.
The following protected bird species can be found in the NSG:
- Bittern ( Botaurus stellaris )
- Spotted Moorhen ( Porzana porzana )
- Bluethroat ( Luscinia svecica )
- Rohrschwirl ( Locustella luscinioides )
- Reed Warbler ( Acrocephalus schoenobaenus )
- Water rail ( Rallus aquaticus )
The nature reserve is located in Voslapper Groden south of the PVC plant and north of the Wilhelmshaven refinery . The area of the nature reserve is 267 hectares . The area has been under nature protection since May 17, 2007. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the city of Wilhelmshaven.
