The Voslapper Groden is a district of the Lower Saxon city of Wilhelmshaven with industry and nature reserves.
geography
The Voslapper Groden borders in the north on Hooksiel , in the east on the Innenjade and the JadeWeserPort , in the south on the Wilhelmshaven districts of Voslapp and Rustersieler Groden and in the west on Sengwarden .
The district consists of industrial plants and two nature reserves:
- Chemical plant Voslapp (PVC production)
- Voslapper Groden-Nord nature reserve
- former Wilhelmshaven refinery , currently only used as a tank farm
- Voslapper Groden-Süd nature reserve
history
From 1971 to 1973 the area of today's district was diked and thus turned into a Groden ; the name comes from the nearby housing estate Voslapp . The two industrial settlements came soon after the dyke-up. The fallow areas, initially also intended as industrial areas, were placed under nature protection in 2006 and 2007.
