The Wälzebach , also spelled Welzebach , is a 4 km long creek in Osterode and Neustadt , two districts belonging to the Harztor rural community in the Nordhausen district of Thuringia .

course

Its source is located on the southeast slope of the Falkenstein , a 543 m high mountain north of the village of Osterode in the Südharz nature park . From there the brook flows to the south-south-west, reaches the place mentioned above and is piped at the foot of the 311 m high Bornberg . Not far he hits then the country road L 2075 (Osteröder main street) and follows it up underground on the eastern outskirts of Osterode. About 450 m further down the stream, on the western edge of Neustadt, it bends from east-south-east to south-west. Here is a new development area with the street named after him Am Wälzebach on the right bank. Leaving the residential area behind, he reaches the L 1037. This he follows on its north side for about 150 m length to the west and then flows into the Kappelbach coming from there from the east and crossing the L 1037 from the south . This then runs further west and finally flows into the Zorge at Krimderode , a northern district of Nordhausen .
