history
In the 15th and 16th centuries, a Ruthenian (Ukrainian) linguistic island of the so-called Zamieszańcy (about mixed people ) emerged from about ten villages on very poor ground in the Dynów Mountains, north of Krosno . Węglówka was located in the middle of this linguistic island, was considered the oldest and most important settlement and was first mentioned in documents in 1418. Around 1600 there was one of only four Orthodox churches in the Sandomir Voivodeship .
The village initially belonged to the owners of Kamieniec Castle in Odrzykoń (the noble families Kamieniecki, Boner), politically to the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania , Sandomir Voivodeship, Pilzno District. When Poland was first partitioned , Węglówka became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804). From 1855 Węglówka belonged to the Krosno District . From 1888, oil was produced in Węglówka. In 1900 the municipality of Węglówka had an area of 1570 hectares, 310 houses with 1918 inhabitants, the majority of whom were Ruthenian-speaking (1769) and Greek-Catholic (1746), as well as Roman Catholic (143) and Polish-speaking (143) population, and 9 German-speaking, 21 Jews, 8 of other beliefs.
After the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Habsburg Monarchy , Węglówka came to Poland in 1918. This was only interrupted by the German occupation of Poland in World War II . From 1975 to 1998 Węglówka was part of the Krosno Voivodeship .
