The election for the eighth state parliament of Brandenburg is expected to take place in autumn 2024.

The SPD became the strongest party with losses, just ahead of the AfD , which gained a lot of votes. The CDU lost significantly and became only the third strongest force. The left also lost a lot and ended up behind the Greens . The BVB / FW moved into the state parliament with 5.0 percent, the FDP missed it.

The SPD around Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke formed a Kenya coalition with the CDU and the Greens , which has 50 of the 88 seats in parliament. The cabinet was sworn in on November 20, 2019.
