The constituency of Bohemia 12 was a constituency for the elections to the House of Representatives in the Austrian crown land of Bohemia . The electoral district was created in 1907 with the introduction of the Reichsrat election regulations and existed until the collapse of the Habsburg monarchy .

history

After the Reichsrat had decided on the general, equal, secret and direct male suffrage in autumn 1906, the major reform of the electoral law through the sanctioning of Emperor Franz Joseph I came into effect on January 26, 1907 . With the new Reichsrat election order, a total of 516 electoral districts were created, with one member being elected in each constituency with the exception of Galicia in the course of the Reichsrat election. The MP had to prevail with an absolute majority in the first ballot or in a runoff election. The constituency of Bohemia 12 comprised that part of the city of Žižkov that was delimited by Vitekgasse, Prokopsplatz, Miličgasse, Sladkowskyplatz, Karlsgasse, Lipangasse, Bořivojgasse, Libušagasse, Tomekgasse, the city limits and the eastern municipal boundary.

In the 1907 Reichsrat election, Vilém Černý ( Czech Social Democratic Party ) emerged victorious from the first ballot . He was able to achieve 57 percent of the votes, the second strongest candidate was the national-social candidate Jan Mayer with 28 percent. In the 1911 Reichsrat election , the social democrat Bohumír Šmeral prevailed with just under 50.1 percent in the first ballot.
