The constituency of Bohemia 5 was a constituency for the elections to the House of Representatives in the Austrian crown land of Bohemia . The electoral district was created in 1907 with the introduction of the Reichsrat election regulations and existed until the collapse of the Habsburg monarchy.

history

After the Reichsrat had decided on the general, equal, secret and direct male suffrage in autumn 1906, the major reform of the electoral law through the sanctioning of Emperor Franz Joseph I came into effect on January 26, 1907 . With the new Reichsrat election order, a total of 516 electoral districts were created, with one member being elected in each constituency with the exception of Galicia in the course of the Reichsrat election. The member of parliament has to prevail with an absolute majority in the first ballot or in a runoff election. The constituency of Bohemia 5 the III. and IV. district of Prague ( Lesser Town and Hradcany ). In the 1907 Reichsrat election , Jan Kaftan ( Jungtschechen ) emerged victorious. He had been a member of the Reichsrat since 1891. After his death he was replaced by Karel Šviha (National Social Party). In the 1911 Reichsrat election, Vilém Funk (Young Czechs) won.

Supplementary election to the Reichsrat 1909

After Kaftan's death, a supplementary election was announced for his successor. This was carried out on June 17, 1909 (first ballot) and June 24, 1909 (runoff). Karel Šviha (Young Czechs) prevailed in the runoff election .

The 1911 Reichsrat election was held on June 13, 1911. The runoff election was dropped due to the absolute majority for Funk in the first ballot.
