The Wahnsdorfer Kuppe forms the highest elevation in the region around Radebeul and Moritzburg and is part of the West Lusatian hills and mountains . It is located on the border between Radebeul and Moritzburg in the Meißen district in Saxony .
Location and surroundings
The Wahnsdorfer Kuppe is located about five kilometers northwest of the Saxon capital Dresden . It lies directly on the Moritzburg / Radebeul border on the northern edge of the Radebeul district of Wahnsdorf . The mountain is formed by a small high plateau which, coming from Moritzburg, rises in an arched manner and then falls back into the Elbe valley with a 100 m high steep slope . On this plateau is the place Wahnsdorf, this also populates the highest point of the plateau. A triangulation pillar was erected at the highest point in 1865 , and the Wahnsdorf weather station was built there in 1916 .
view
One has one of the best views from the Strakenweg ("Gipfelstein") to the Keulenberg with the surrounding West Lusatian Mountains (Schwarzenberg, Tännchenberg ...) over the Moritzburger Land with the Friedewald and the Moritzburg pond area to the Großenhainer Pflege . With good visibility you can see the town of Radeburg , the Lausitzer Bergland , the Gallberg (Boxdorf), the town of Reichenberg (with the mountain of the same name, Reichenberg 223 m), the town of Moritzburg , the Promnitz valley, the Gröbern landfill, and partly the Collmberg near Oschatz, further heights and valleys of the highlands called Lausitzer Platte north of Dresden.
