The Wakunaika ( Russian Вакунайка ) is a right tributary of the Chona in the northeast of the Irkutsk Oblast in central Siberia .

The Wakunaika rises on the Viljuiplateau in the Central Siberian Mountains on the border between the Sakha Republic and the Irkutsk Oblast. It briefly flows west and then turns north. It winds its way through the mountains and takes its largest tributary, the Killemtine , from the right , 20 km above its confluence with the Tschona . The last 20 km the Wakunaika flows along the border between the Irkutsk Oblast and the Sakha Republic. The Wakunaika has a length of 362 km and drains an area of ​​10,100 km².
