Four Hills Tournament 14th ( 1962/63 )

Waldemar Heigenhauser (born May 24, 1939 in Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer ) is a former Austrian skier who competed in ski jumping and Nordic combined .

Career

Heigenhauser made his international debut as a special jumper at the Four Hills Tournament in 1957/58 . He started exclusively on the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze in Bischofshofen and after a 43rd place there achieved 60th place in the overall tournament ranking. In the following Four Hills Tournament in 1958/59 he started at both competitions in Austria and ended up in 55th place Overall rating. After he only finished last in the overall ranking in the 1959/60 Four Hills Tournament , Heigenhauser took a two-year break before making his international comeback in the 1962/63 Four Hills Tournament , where he competed in all four competitions for the first and only time. After a good 20th place on the Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf and 33rd on the Bergiselschanze in Innsbruck , he landed in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on 13th and in Bischofshofen on 12th place. With the 735.9 points he gained, he finished 14th overall.

Heigenhauser was subsequently unable to repeat these successes. At the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964 , he only started in the Nordic combined and was able to achieve 19th place in individual after rank 11 in jumping and rank 25 in cross-country skiing . Four years later, at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble , Heigenhauser was only 35th.

Previously, he played the Four Hills Tournament 1963/64 and the Four Hills Tournament 1964/65 again as a special jumper, but he could not repeat his performances from the pre-Olympic season 1962/63 and only finished the tours in 64th and 84th places in the overall standings.

At the Austrian championships in 1964 in Feldkirchen in Carinthia , he was clearly in the lead with 276.8 points ahead of Franz Scherübel (227.3 points) after the jump on February 20, but both of his skis broke the next day in 15 km cross-country skiing when he was already Slipped on an ice sheet 700 m after the start and crashed onto a road next to the apere road. Although he rushed back and buckled on other skis, which were not approved for the competition, so that he was disqualified.
