Kaltenberg pilgrimage church
The Roman Catholic pilgrimage church Lichtenegg is located in the village of Kaltenberg in the municipality of Lichtenegg in the district of Wiener Neustadt-Land in Lower Austria . The daughter church of the parish Lichtenegg is the commemoration Maria Snow consecrated and belongs to the deanery Kirchschlag in the Vicariate Under the Vienna Woods to the Archdiocese of Vienna . The building is a listed building .

history
In 1503 a church was first mentioned in a document. 1614 reports of a chapel near Kaltenbrunn, which served as the border point of the Lichtenegg office. In 1631 it is mentioned in a document as a branch church, which was consecrated to Saints Radegundis and Oswald . The "pilgrimage site Maria Schnee" has been known in documents since 1756. In the course of Josephinism , a ban on procession was issued in 1787. The demolition of the church was prevented by the purchase of the buildings and the inventory by the residents of Lichtenegg. In 1824 a foundation for the renovation of the church was established. In 1825 an application was made for permission to worship in the church. From 1826 the church was renovated and redesigned. In 1875 a foundation for the new church was established by Antonia Winter . The new building took place until 1879 in the tradition of baroque pilgrimage churches. A restoration took place in 1978/1979.

The church is a north-facing, neo-baroque hall building with a transept and double tower facade . The nave and transept are under saddle roofs . The northern end is formed by triangular gables placed side by side at right angles. The facade is structured by pilasters , strong cranked cornices, arched windows and small ox eyes . In the middle of the double tower facade is a three-zone gabled middle section between the two towers. The three-storey church towers are crowned by a pointed helmet. They are structured by corner pilasters. Ionic capitals are on the top floor . The church tower has arched and ox-eye windows as well as arched sound windows . In the middle part is a simple rectangular main portal, which is gabled by a triangular gable. Above it are three arched windows and a niche with a statue of the Virgin Mary. The round apse is drawn in and low with doubled round arched windows. There are single-storey sacristy extensions to the side.

The nave is a five-bay, flat-roofed hall with a recessed rectangular ceiling mirror and a circumferential, stepped cornice that rests on flat pillars. In the south there is a narrower gallery between the two church towers. The transept arms are short. A round arched triumphal arch separates the nave from the choir. The apse calotte is low and drawn in.
Furnishing
The high altar has a neo-baroque tabernacle from the second half of the 19th century. Above it is a niche with the grace statue of Mary and Child from the mid-18th century. Behind it is the altarpiece depicting " Christ Pantocrator ". It was painted by Josef Kessler in 1879 . The two side altars are wall tabs from 1826, which were put together from different parts. At the left side altar, above the baroque tabernacle, there is a statue of St. Florian with a millstone from the first half of the 18th century. The altar table on the right side altar was consecrated in 1774. The altarpiece shows St. Augustine . The picture is flanked by statues of Saints Gregory and Oswald . The figures date from the 18th century. The pulpit was built in the second half of the 19th century. On the cover is a statuette of the " Good Shepherd " from the end of the 18th century. A baroque crucifix with a Madonna dates from the end of the 18th or beginning of the 19th century. In the presbytery there are pictures of Saints Anthony and Benno . Both were created by Josef Keßler in 1879. The Stations of the Cross were created at the end of the 19th century.
