Real film

On April 20, 2018, a live action film about Inuyashiki was released in Japanese cinemas. Directed by Shinsuke Satō , who previously also implemented Hiroya Oku's earlier work Gantz on film. Ichirō Inuyashiki was played by Noritake Kinashi , Hiro Shishigami by Takeru Satō .

reception

On Anime News Network, Jason Thompson compared the series with Gantz , an older work by the same author. Like this one, Inuyashiki is full of violence, but at the same time deals with moral issues. Oku breaks with the usual expectations of the initial situation that Inuyashiki's satire or a campaign of revenge suggests and finally develops a classic superhero story with an elderly hero. However, the pattern of good people who appear and who meet a villain is repeated over and over again, so that the hero can avenge them. In contrast to Gantz, this means that the series cannot maintain the tension. Otherwise it would certainly please fans of the previous series, while others might find the same criticisms. Artistically, the series is well implemented and offers many terrifying villains and body horror scenes that seem even more terrifying due to the everyday environment.
