Wallrode is a district of the rural community Am Ohmberg in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia .

Wallrode is located south of Großbodungen on the district roads 208 and 207 in a hilly agricultural area, Buhla is the neighboring municipality to the south. To the south of Wallrode are the Bleicheröder mountains and the Hasenburg and further south there is a connection to the federal motorway 38 .
history
The place was first mentioned on June 2, 1255. The core of the church is from the 13th century. It was changed in the late Gothic period and rebuilt in the baroque style in the second half of the 18th century. 150 people lived in the village to date.
Literary setting
The writer Wilhelm Raabe (1831-1910) chose Wallrode as the setting for his historical novella Else von der Tanne , published in 1885 .
