education and profession

Aichinger first attended elementary school in Gmunden and then continued his education at the middle school in Gmunden and a middle school in Linz, where he completed his training in 1935 with the Matura. He then studied law and did his military and war service between 1938 and 1945. After the end of the Second World War , he joined Bausparkasse Wüstenrot in Salzburg in 1945 and was promoted to head of the mortgage department in 1946 . In 1963 he took over the post of a board member of the Wüstenrot Bausparkasse with the title of director . The conversion of the Austrian home loan and savings scheme to a bonus system from January 1, 1973 was largely due to his initiative. This led to a great boom in the Austrian building society. Wüstenrot owes him the successful expansion of business activities beyond the field of building society savings. In 1976 he was founding chairman of Wüstenrot Lebensversicherungs AG, later Wüstenrot Versicherungs AG, chairman of the supervisory board until 1986 and honorary chairman until 1994. In addition to his work for Wüstenrot, Aichinger was also active in many other areas in a leading position. As chairman of the supervisory board of the Austrian settlement association "Bausparerheim", as a member of the board of trustees of the Salzburg Housing Promotion Fund, the Salzburg Institute for Spatial Research and the Salzburg Educational Institute, he gave Salzburg's economy and culture valuable impetus. Aichinger also served as president of the Rotary Club in Salzburg.
