Walter Czysz
Walter Czysz [spoken Czech] (born March 5, 1925 in Wiesbaden ; † March 8, 2007 ibid) was a German pharmacist and local researcher.
Life
After graduating from high school and participating in World War II as a pilot, Walter Czysz studied pharmacy at the University of Mainz . From 1963 until his retirement he worked at the Institut Fresenius in Wiesbaden, particularly for Fresenius' Zeitschrift für Analytische Chemie .
He was particularly interested in local history and published a lot in this area. The focus of his local history activities was the history of Wiesbaden from the Roman settlement Aquae Mattiacorum to the modern spa town, the history of the Klarenthal monastery and the Wiesbaden district of Sonnenberg .
In 1962 he became a member of the Nassau Association for Natural History , since 1993 he was its 2nd chairman, in 2004 he became an honorary member. Walter Czysz was a member of the Historical Commission for Nassau , received the Citizen Medal of the City of Wiesbaden in Silver in 1993 and the Medal of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2003 .
His son is the Provincial Roman archaeologist Wolfgang Czysz .
