Walter Franz Uhsadel

Walter Franz Uhsadel (born June 28, 1900 in Danzig ; † June 9, 1985 in Hamburg ) was a German religious educator and professor of practical theology .

Life

As a parish pastor in Hamburg, he was the confirmator of the later Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt . In 1938 Uhsadel visited the psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung (1875–1961) in Küsnacht near Zurich . Uhsadel emphasized the intensive connection of theological questions with Jung's depth psychology .

In the 1950s he taught psychology as a lecturer at the deacon seminar of the Rauhen Haus in Hamburg, where he particularly emphasized the importance of CG Jung and his teaching on the archetypes in the collective unconscious. From 1956 to 1965 he was a full professor for practical theology at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen .

Since 1934 Uhsadel was a member of the Evangelical Michael Brotherhood . From 1961 to 1972 he was a member of the Advisory Board of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation .
