Walter Gerrads

Walter Gerrads (born February 22, 1910 in Aachen , † July 31, 1991 in Stuttgart ) was a German lawyer , administrative officer and politician ( FDP / DVP ).

Life

Walter Gerrads was born the son of a businessman. After attending primary school and secondary school in Aachen, he began studying law at the universities in Munich and Bonn in 1929 , which he completed in 1934 with the first state examination in law. Then he completed his legal clerkship. In October 1935 he was at the University of Erlangen for Dr. jur. doctorate (dissertation: Limits of real estate according to § 905 BGB and modern technology ). He worked in the private sector from 1936 to 1940 and then worked as an economic expert for a price authority in Berlin . After his service with the Air Force , he worked as a consultant in the Reich Aviation Ministry until 1943 . From 1943 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier .

Gerrads became head of the price monitoring office in Karlsruhe in April 1946 and from June 1946 was a reporter in the department for commercial economy in the Ministry of Economics of the State of Württemberg-Baden . In 1948 he was appointed to the Upper Government Council and worked as a deputy authorized representative in the Württemberg-Baden representation in the Economic Council of the United Economic Area in Frankfurt am Main . From 1948 to 1975 he was General Manager (Syndicus) of the Karlsruhe Chamber of Commerce and Industry , which was renamed the Middle Upper Rhine Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1973. Furthermore, since 1951 he has acted as managing director of the Karlsruhe Airport Company.

Gerrads joined the Democratic People's Party (DVP) after 1945. From this, the state association of the FDP Württemberg-Baden emerged in 1948, which in turn became part of the state association of the FDP / DVP in Baden-Württemberg in 1952 . From 1950 to 1952 Gerrads was a member of the state parliament of Württemberg-Baden . From June 17, 1953, when he replaced the resigned MP Edmund Kaufmann , until 1956 he was a member of the state constitutional assembly and the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg . In July 1967 he left the FDP and switched to the CDU . From 1969 to 1977 he was treasurer of the CDU district association North Württemberg.

Walter Gerrads was married to Inga-Lisa Arnsperger since 1937. From this relationship three daughters were born. After the death of his wife in 1974, he married Sieglinde Schock in 1976.
