Walter Kaskel

Walter Kaskel (born February 2, 1882 in Berlin ; † October 9, 1928 there ) was a German lawyer and university professor.

Life

Walter Kaskel was born the son of a Jewish banker and commercial judge. After studying law at the universities of Berlin , Munich and Freiburg im Breisgau , Walter Kaskel worked at the local courts in Liebenwalde and Berlin-Mitte and received his doctorate in 1911 at the University of Berlin with a dissertation on "pardons in honorary proceedings for the liberal professions". After years of academic work in the Reich Insurance Office , he completed his habilitation in 1913 at the University of Berlin. In 1920 Kaskel was appointed as a regular associate professor for labor law at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin. In 1921, along with Hermann Dersch , Friedrich Sitzler and Friedrich Syrup , Kaskel was one of the founders of the Neue Zeitschrift für Arbeitsrecht . Walter Kaskel died on October 9, 1928 in Berlin at the age of only 46. Kaskel is considered to be the co-founder of modern labor law in Germany.

Honor

A street in Berlin-Lichtenberg was named after him.
