Walter Rescheneder (born June 20, 1948 in Linz ) is an Austrian composer , conductor and music teacher .

Live and act

Walter Rescheneder studied clarinet, violoncello, percussion and conducting at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz and at the Mozarteum Salzburg . He completed his conductor training with Leopold Mayer . Since 1968 he has been musical director of the Stadtmusik (magistrate music) Wels . When he was appointed Kapellmeister of the Magistratsmusik Wels at the age of 20, he was the youngest Kapellmeister in Austria.

Due to a successful and convincing concert conducted by Rescheneder on the occasion of Nico Dostal's 80th birthday in his presence, Rescheneder was appointed musical director of the Wels Municipal Symphony Orchestra on January 1st, 1972.

From 1979 to 2007 he was director of the State Music School in Wels. From 1991 to 2019 he was regional conductor of the Upper Austrian Brass Music Association and since 2004 Federal Kapellmeister of the Austrian Brass Music Association .

From 1991 to 2015 Rescheneder was regional music director at the Office of the Upper Austrian regional government. He is also a brass music consultant at ORF and designs and moderates the broadcasts Klingendes Oberösterreich and Musikantenpiele's on Radio Oberösterreich .

Among other things, he has conducted operetta productions with the Munich Opera Stage and the Vienna Operettenbühne ( Der Bettelstudent , Die Fledermaus ), the world premiere of the youth opera Picassa , the musical productions Annie (Stadttheater Bad Hall ), Jekyll & Hyde ( Landestheater Linz ) and The Phantom of the Opera ( Bad Leonfelden ), as well as concerts with the World Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Czech-Austrian Symphonic Wind Orchestra, Linz Concert Association, Upper Austria Wind Soloists, Sound Inn Brass, Upper Austria Regional Wind Orchestra, SBO Ried, WPOS Schärding, District Orchestra Grieskirchen, Regional Wind Orchestra Salzburg, Kollegium Ennsegg etc.

Rescheneder also works as a speaker at seminars and as a juror at international competitions. He is chairman of the Wels cultural advisory board.
