Walter Sintenis (born July 20, 1867 in Zittau , † November 15, 1911 in Dresden ) was a German sculptor , painter and medalist .

Life

Sintenis was born in Zittau in 1867. He first studied at the Dresden Art Academy with Robert Diez . He then studied with Constantin Meunier and Jules Lagae in Brussels . He later settled in Dresden again. He became a member of the artist group Die Elbier (1902 around Gotthardt Kuehl ) and worked as a freelancer in Dresden. In 1909 he was a founding member of the Dresden Artists' Association . Sintenis died in Dresden in 1911 and was buried in the Old Annenfriedhof . He was the uncle of Renée Sintenis .

  • 1903: Statues in the Lukaskirche Dresden: On the 4 pillars of the nave there were symbolic figures from the Gospel of Luke, which were designed by Walter Sintenis and executed by Anton Schwarz and Adolf Schwarz . “The Shepherd”, “The Vineyard Man”, “The Fisherman” and “The Sower”. Today the statues are no longer there. Images can still be found in sources before 1945.
