Walter Sisulu ( English Walter Sisulu Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the Joe Gqabi district of the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa . The seat of the municipal administration is in Burgersdorp . The mayor is Bulelwa Khweyiya.

The municipality was formed after the regional elections on August 3, 2016 by merging the municipalities Gariep (municipality) and Maletswai . Her name refers to the anti-apartheid activist Walter Sisulu .
