Roland Fuhrmann (* 1966 in Dresden ) is a German artist from Berlin .

Life

Roland Fuhrmann studied fine arts at the Burg Giebichenstein Art College in Halle from 1991 to 1995 . With a grant from the DAAD , he continued his art studies from 1995 to 1997 at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris with Christian Boltanski . Roland Fuhrmann has lived in Berlin since 1998 and has been a member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists Berlin since 2001 and of the German Association of Artists since 2019 .

With the dissertation on aerodynamically shaped airship halls , supervised by Professor Hans-Georg Lippert, Roland Fuhrmann received his doctorate in 2018 at the Faculty of Architecture of the TU Dresden at the Institute for Building History , Architectural Theory and Monument Preservation . The dissertation received the Kurt Beyer Prize 2018.

In addition to his photo and video works, installations, kinetic objects, cinematographic sculptures and conceptual mechanisms at the interface between art and science, Roland Fuhrmann became known above all for his art in construction and art in public spaces . His works have been shown in numerous exhibitions and film festivals in Europe, but have also been shown in America and Asia.

Roland Fuhrmann has given lectures at the Muthesius Art Academy in Kiel , the Burg Giebichenstein Art Academy Halle , the TU Dresden , the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne and several times at the University of Antwerp .
