history

Waltershofen is known for the first time in 1178 as "waltfridishouen" , which probably comes from a name (Höfe des Waltfridis).

In 1812 there are eight properties in Waltershofen. The rulership was held by the church Aufkirchen , the monastery Altomünster , the church Englertshofen , the monastery Bernried , the monastery Scheyern and the Hofmark Spielberg . The eighth property was privately owned. From 1818 Waltershofen belongs to the Unterweikertshofen patrimonial court that belongs to the von Hundt von Lautterbach family.

On May 1, 1978 Waltershofen was incorporated into Egenhofen as a district of the formerly independent municipality of Aufkirchen.
