history
On December 1, 1971, Waltersweier was incorporated into Offenburg.
Naming
In old scripts the village is called Waltharisvillare . This name comes from the Roman villare and changed over time to today's name Waltersweier. The name also has the same meaning in the word hamlet . Places with this name are mostly in areas that were once occupied by the Romans

Fire department in place
The Waltersweier fire brigade, which was officially founded in 1936, was incorporated into the Offenburg fire brigade as the Waltersweier department on December 1, 1971.
On October 21, 2015, the West Department emerged from the Waltersweier Department and the Weier Department of the Offenburg Fire Department.
