Walther Weißauer (born November 10, 1921 in Freising ) is a German lawyer.

biography

Weißauer completed his law degree, which was interrupted by the Second World War , in 1948 . First he accepted a position in the Bavarian State Ministry before he worked as a judge at the Munich Regional Court from 1952 to 1954. He then returned to the Justice Department. In 1963 he was promoted to Ministerial Counselor and in 1970 to Ministerial Director. Until his retirement on March 1, 1984, he represented the Bavarian state government in the legal committee of the German Bundestag on constitutional issues as head of department in the Bavarian Ministry of Justice .

In addition to his work in the Ministry of Justice, he worked for the medical profession. In 1953 he began this second career by volunteering as chairman of the disciplinary committee of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in Bavaria . In 1961 he was commissioned by the Professional Association of German Anesthetists to draw up a legal opinion on the question of the division of labor and responsibility between anesthetists and surgeons during an operation. The background to this was the common opinion among surgeons at the time that anesthesia was not a specialty of its own and that they therefore had the right to give instructions to the anesthetist. On the basis of his report, an agreement was drawn up by both professional groups on the mutual division of labor and responsibility during an operation. Walther Weißauer became legal advisor of the Professional Association of German Anesthesiologists , the German Society for Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine and finally also the Professional Association of German Surgeons .

Walther Weißauer was awarded an honorary doctorate in medicine at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg in 1975 and an honorary professor in 1987 by the Minister and Art of Baden-Württemberg . Weißauer was awarded the Ernst von Bergmann plaque . He is also an honorary senator of the Technical University of Munich . In 1991, Weißauer was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Cross of Merit .
