Wason Libardo Rentería Cuesta (born July 4, 1985 in Quibdó ) is a Colombian football player . He has been under contract with La Equidad in Bogotá since July 2015 .

Career

Rentería began his career in his native Colombia with Boyacá Chicó FC , with whom he made promotion to the top Colombian league in the first year. He then moved to Brazil and signed with SC Internacional , where they immediately became runner-up. In the following season, the team was again runner-up, but won the Copa Libertadores and the FIFA Club World Cup .

After these successes he moved to Europe and signed with FC Porto , with which he became Portuguese champions in 2006/07 after moving to the club in January. In 2007/08 he was awarded to Racing Strasbourg to France , which had to relegate with 19th place from Ligue 1 . He then returned to Portugal and played on a loan deal with Sporting Braga , with whom he reached fifth place. After a short stop at Atlético Mineiro in autumn 2009, he returned to Braga in spring 2010 and became Portuguese champion for the second time. In 2010 he returned to FC Porto, for which he was no longer used and therefore ended up with FC Santos after a stopover at Once Caldas , for whom he made his debut on October 1, 2011 in the game against Fluminense Rio de Janeiro when he was substituted on for Elano in the second half .

After a year in Brazil, however, Rentería returned to Colombia and played a very successful year at Millonarios FC . There he was Colombian champion and top scorer of the Copa Sudamericana. Again after a year he moved on to Argentina, where he got little time at Racing Club (Avellaneda) and was hardly involved in the championship.

In July 2015, he moved again to Bogotá, this time to La Equidad .

For Colombia, Rentería has played 17 games and scored four goals. He took part in the 2005 Junior World Cup in the Netherlands , where Colombia failed in the round of 16 against Argentina . The striker made his debut for Colombia at the 2005 Gold Cup when he played through Panama in the group stage and received a yellow card. Colombia was eliminated in the semi-finals against Panama. Rentería was used in all five games of Colombia.
