Vasily Parmenowitsch Obraszow ( Russian Василий Парменович Образцов ; born January 1 . Jul / 13. January  1849 greg. In Gryazovets ; † 14. December 1920 in Kiev ) was a Russian - Ukrainian doctor and internist .

Life

Obraszow completed a spiritual seminar and began studying in St. Petersburg in 1870 at the Military Medical Academy , which he graduated in 1875. Then he began his service as a country doctor. In 1877 at the beginning of the Russo-Ottoman War (1877–1878) he was appointed military doctor in Romania . He received a foreign leave for further training, which he spent mainly in Berlin with Rudolf Virchow and others. In 1880 he was with his work on the morphology of blood formation in the bone marrow of mammals for Doctor of Medicine doctorate. He then became an assistant doctor in the Kiev military hospital.

In 1884 Obraszow opened a private practice . In 1886 he became an assistant doctor in the Kiev Alexander Hospital and in 1888 a department head.

In 1891 Obraszow became a private lecturer and in 1893 professor at the University of Kiev at the Department of Clinical Pathology and Therapy . He was also director of the Therapeutic Faculty Clinic from 1903 to 1918, which was later named Hospital No. 22. He published scientific papers mainly on diagnostics . In 1909 he was the first in the world to describe the clinical picture of thrombosis with his student Mykola Straschesko as co-author and in 1910 that of myocardial infarction . Even Max Gubergriz was his student.

Obraszow was chairman of the Kiev Physico-Medical Society and the Kiev Medical Society and founded the Kiev Therapy School together with Theophil Janowski .

Obraszow was buried in the Lukjaniwska cemetery in Kiev . 1950 was a bronze - bust of sculptor Makar Vronsky erected.
